Ballymoney Evergreen Club

The Ballymoney Evergreen club is a voluntary-led small charity which runs a variety of programmes targeted at isolated, older people living in the local area. The group runs a range of weekly activities which aims to reduce the loneliness and isolation of their beneficiaries, by improving their mental health and wellbeing. The group currently has 100 active members who regularly attend their Friday afternoon session, which provides the opportunity to participate in gentle exercise and activities. They also run different outings and social events for their members throughout the year.

The charity has received 2 grants from the Foundation since 2015, supporting the running of the club and its programmes. In 2015, they received £2,520 to deliver yoga classes, massage and trips away for their members. Most recently in 2018, the Foundation awarded the group £4,000 towards the organisation’s running costs, to enable them to offer a wide range of weekly activities, talks and outings throughout the year. This support will enable the older people who attend the club to take part in flower arranging, arts & crafts, cooking and armchair aerobics activities.

Isobel Dunlop (Committee Member) stated the “The Ballymoney Evergreen club members are very grateful from the amount of support we’ve received from the Halifax Foundation.”
