La Dolce Vita Project

La Dolce Vita Project is a charity based in Derry/Londonderry with a remit to support victims of domestic abuse across NI, regardless of gender. La Dolce Vita Project was founded by Donna-Maria Logue in 2016 and originally started out as a Facebook group. Over the last few years, the charity has grown its services and now provides one-to-one therapeutic counselling, online and telephone support, assistance to those going through the judicial process and training and advocacy work on domestic abuse.

The charity received funding from the Foundation both in 2017 and 2018 to help deliver its vital services. In 2017, they received a £4,500 grant to deliver the ‘Free to Be Me’ project, which supported their counselling service and the facilitation of support groups. This helped address the mental health needs of the people using these services and increase knowledge and awareness on the abuse issues faced.

This year, the Foundation awarded a grant of £4,500 to support the ‘My voice will be my freedom’ project. This project aims to empower and support victims and their children who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence, through providing 18 weeks of one-to-one counselling, providing peer support and guidance in suicide risk prevention plans.  Through this work, the charity will help victims of domestic violence speak about their experiences and support them in their personal development, to improve their future lives.

Donna-Maria (Founder & Coordinator) stated that “The Halifax Foundation funding we received has given La Dolce Vita Project a life line opportunity to empower, support, change and save the lives of those impacted by domestic abuse and sexual violence.”
