The Charity Mentoring Programme matches senior Lloyds Banking Group colleagues with grantees of the Foundation, to help develop the skills of leaders in the third sector.
The programme aims to provide a developmental partnership through which the Mentor shares knowledge, skills, supports, challenges and offers perspective to foster the personal and professional growth of the Mentee, in turn helping to support the objectives of the Charity.
It is a partnership based on trust and respect. Through building a development-focused relationship, the Mentor and Mentee explore issues together and this will result in new learning for both parties. The Mentors are drawn from a wide range of senior and experienced Lloyds Banking Group/Halifax professionals who all gift their time to this programme.
The benefits of mentoring are reciprocal. Through mentoring, the Mentors often report; stronger communication, relationship, leadership and coaching skills and affirmation of their own value and worth. Most of all they report the enormous sense of satisfaction and rewards of helping another professional on their career journey.
One of our mentors said;
I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Charity Mentor Programme. So much so, I have signed up for year two. It was very rewarding to observe my mentee grow and develop new skills. I am extremely proud that my employer supports the Charity Mentor Programme. I would encourage colleagues to get involved."
Currently, all Large grant holders are availing this support. As it is a 3 year grant programme, the mentors for each of the organisations have committed to the mentoring relationship for the full 3 years of the grant life.
