Certificate Presentation at the Gasworks

3 of our successful grantees were presented with certificates at the Halifax Gasworks Site today, having secured £14,000 collectively.

L'Arche Belfast were awarded £4000 towards the Root Soup's van's running costs. L'Arche helps to empower adults with learning disabilities and other marginalised groups to live full and meaningful lives, offering opportunities for friendship, participation and belonging through their daytime projects. Activities include their social enterprise Root Soup, a unique and enterprising project, delivering cookery skills training to marginalised groups across Belfast.

Homeplus NI received £5,000 towards sessional workers. Homeplus NI provides a nightly outreach service, an on-call service for rough sleepers in Belfast and run a daily drop-in centre for homeless migrant workers, refugees and asylum seekers. The Street Outreach provides food, clothing, sleeping bags, first aid, advice, transport and access to temporary accommodation.

Belfast Street Pastors secured £5,000 towards costs for the Development Officer and admin support. This organisation care, listen and help, identifying vulnerable people, assisting and safeguarding, calming anti-social behaviour in the city centre and residential areas every Friday and Saturday night. They help people who find themselves in distress due to a variety of circumstances, address anti-social behaviour, lift and dispose of bottles and hand out flip-flops to avoid need of medical assistance re broken glass on the ground.

Today, the three groups met with representatives from the Halifax Gasworks site, including Jim McCooe, Head of Connect, NI Ambassador and Trustee of Halifax Foundation for NI,  and other Lloyds Banking Group colleagues. We hope everyone enjoyed the opportunity to share their experiences and showcase the great work they do.
