Lord Blackwell Visits Belfast Charity Groups

The Chairman of Lloyds Banking Group, Lord Blackwell, was in Belfast to learn about the many community projects supported by the Lloyds Bank Foundation for Northern Ireland.

Lord Blackwell saw first-hand how the Foundation in Northern Ireland funds grassroots groups to really make a difference in Northern Ireland. Since the Foundation began 30 years ago, it has given £32.5million in grant aid to more than 8,000 charities.

Lord Blackwell visited Giving Life Opportunities to Women (GLOW), which works with women from the Shankill and the Falls and Tools for Solidarity, where volunteers renovate old tools which are then passed on to skilled tradespeople in Africa.

Lord Blackwell, Chairman of Lloyds Banking Group said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to be here in Northern Ireland where Lloyds Banking Group has a proud history through our Halifax brand.  The work of the Lloyds Bank Foundation sits right at the heart of our plan for Helping Britain and Northern Ireland Prosper. We have been proud to support the work of the Foundations and since their inception nearly 30 years ago, Lloyds has provided over £575 million worth of funding, enabling them to help a vast array of charities across the country to make a meaningful and sustainable difference.
