Pitching4Pounds Winners Announced!

On Monday 5th February 2018 the 8 finalists of the Pitching4Pounds Programme met at Galgorm Resort and Spa to deliver their pitches to the judging panel. Many thanks to all the charities who took part, each one presenting their own unique project with enthuisiasm and passion. The competition was fierce!

Unfortunately, there could only be 2 winners of the £15,000 awards, they were awarded to Angel Eyes NI and Portadown Cares.

Angel Eyes would like to develop a Sight Loss Virtual Reality Application for mobile devices to help parents and professional understand the challenges partial brings. This app would enable them to bring together the expertise from Clinicians, parents and IT Technicians to create a tool which will bring benefits to the families they support, empower parents with knowledge and understanding to help support and advocate for their chilld and raise awareness to educators, health professionals and a wider audience on the impact of sight loss.

Portadown Cares would like to facilitate and participate in the Engaging and Educating Young People with Learning Difficulties Leaving Care programme. These young people are forced to leave the care system that most of them have been in since infant hood and many of them have no life skills. They would teach them basic home maintenance skills, cooking skills and money management, amongst other skills.

The six runners up however, were not left empty handed. Each of these organisations received a £400 unrestricted award to help them support their vision.

A special thank you to Matthew Teague, from Entrepreneurial Spark for supporting all our charities in making the perfect pitch. Matthew also provided feedback to our pitchers to strengthen their presentations further!

We hope to run this programme again in the future. Please keep checking back for more information.
